“Myron” is Myron Balagno, the man who founded the company in 1971. The one-time radio announcer and public relations representative was a key member of the, then, very small advertising community in Vancouver, helping to shape its offbeat and quirky image. Avid sailor, singer, vintage car lover, and practical joker, he was well respected in both his personal and working life for his creativity and originality. It was these qualities, among others, that allowed him to build a creative agency able to stand the test of time in an ever-evolving industry. While he passed away in 2003, his philosophy of approaching work with levity and simplicity and building long-term relationships with clients are values still held fast in the company today.
Kyle Balagno, President Account Director
Kyle is owner and President of Myron Advertising + Design, a venerable 41-year-old advertising agency. Fifteen years after a successful transition with Myron Advertising + Design founder, Myron Balagno, Kyle continues to play a key role in strategic business and communication strategy development and execution for a wide range of institutional, corporate and retail clients. Kyle has helped organizations such as the Certified General Accountants of British Columbia, Vancouver International Airport Authority (YVR), Molson Indy Vancouver, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Hastings - Division of Woodbine Entertainment Group, City of Surrey and City of White Rock achieve key strategic goals including brand awareness and image enhancement.
For the past four years Kyle has served on the Executive Committee for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s annual fundraising dinner - Rockin’ for Research, a landmark event. Kyle currently serves on the JDRF National Marketing & Communications committee, providing direction on fundraising and communication initiatives, and is an active participant in key community events.
Peter Desmet, Senior Art Director
20+ years of professional experience as a designer and practicing artist are evidence of the passion that Peter has for the design process. Meticulous attention to the craft of typography and a rigorous approach to the technical and aesthetic aspects of form, colour and design, are all qualities that explain why clients value their relationship with Peter.
Peter’s success in the creative field is backed by extensive training and apprenticeships in various art and design disciplines. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Art (Johannesburg, South Africa) and a Master of Arts degree and Diploma in graphic design (Lausanne, Switzerland). Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Peter lived for four years in Lausanne, Switzerland before settling in Vancouver during the early nineties. In his quest for life experience, enlightenment and creative enrichment, he has travelled extensively to the farthest corners of the earth. Peter brings that depth and breadth of experience to bear on every project.
Lisa Steinson, Account Manager/Media Buyer
Lisa brings 13 years of marketing and communications experience to the team. Lisa’s responsibility on a day-to-day basis include outlining media strategies for various clients, negotiating media buys with various media outlets and overseeing the full execution of the plan. Lisa also manages several of her own accounts and has been instrumental in the development and implementation of all communications materials for the 2008 and 2009 BC Business Council Business Summits. She was also active on the day-to-day management and execution of materials for the 2008 through 2011 Surrey Regional Economic Summits featuring special guests such as Rudy Giuliani, Tony Blair, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and others. Lisa and the studio at Myron have recently started to develop the promotional materials for the 2012 Surrey Regional Economic Summit with special guest Sir Richard Branson.
Megan Tarris, Production Designer
Megan brings 9 years of Print & Web communications to the studio. Megan’s broad range of capabilities allows her to assist in the development of the majority of communications materials that pass through our studio. Her keen attention to detail allows us to keep on track and focused on the creative objectives at hand.
Donna Beijor, Accountant
Donna provides transparent and responsible fiscal management for Myron’s day-to-day operations. She is also responsible for human resources and purchasing.
An important tool that Donna manages and the team at Myron Creative depends on daily, is proprietary software called Clients & Profits.
